2010 EAH Retiree Union is all set!

This year's reunion will be in Indianapolis where we will have the opportunity to visit our NEW Global Headquarters that will be opening later this year.  Based on the feedback of the retirees that have attended previoius reunions, September is the best time and since Elanco President Jeff Simmons will be our Banquet Speaker, his availability helped fine tune the dates for 2010 Reunion. Lilly hopes Elanco unit becomes a cash cow

As Jeff Simmons, president of Elanco Animal Health, ambles to the back corner of a Kroger supermarket in Greenfield, he stops halfway between the milk and the cheese.

Lilly eyes more animal-health acquisitions

Eli Lilly and Co. is interested in animal-health assets that may be offered for sale as a result of Sanofi-Aventis SA and Merck & Co.’s plan to combine their veterinary units.

Indianapolis-based Lilly wants to expand in the $19 billion market for pet and farm animal medicines, as well as make smaller acquisitions in human health as it seeks to replace top-selling drugs that face generic competition beginning next year, said CEO John Lechleiter in an interview in Frankfurt on Thursday. Gus Watanabe

GUS WATANABE DIES

June 13, 2009
August "Gus" Watanabe was found dead Tuesday outside a cabin in Brown County.

Brown County Coroner Earl Piper determined that Dr. Watanabe died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, said Michael Adams, chief deputy at the Brown County Sheriff's Department. Watanabe, 67, was the former president of Indianapolis-based Lilly Research Laboratories and current chairman of BioCrossroads, the region’s bio-tech initiative.
