2006 Elanco AgChem Reunion
The 2nd Elanco Reunion was held in Indianapolis, August 11 - 12, 2006 at the Sheraton Indianapolis Hotel on the north side of Indianapolis. More than 120 people attended the two day event. Attendance may have been down from the first reunion two years ago, but the enthusiasm and spirit of those in attendance was high. There was no formal program but plenty of time for talking, eating and drinking.
Friday night's cookout was held at the Golf Club of Indiana in Zionsville. The casual event provided great opportunity to meet friends. This year's menu included pulled pork, fried chicken and fish plus vegetables, salad and a delicious dessert spread. There was no formal program but plenty of time for talking, eating and drinking.
Saturday night's banquet was held in the Crystal Ballroom at the Sheraton. As with the first reunion, photographs were taken of all the guests as they arrived. Following a hospitality hour, there was a greeting and invocation followed by a tribute to our deceased comrades. It was with great sadness that many more names had to be added to the list this year including Stan Parka (retired Plant Science, Greenfield) who passed away just before the reunion.
Highlight of the banquet evening was a presentation by Ben Agnor about the Elanco family. Ben took us on a journey beginning with the earliest days when Elanco was first established and took us down memory lane with many funny stories about how it was back in the "good old days".
After Ben's presentation, a panel of 9 representatives (Billy Wagner, Bo Bolin, Dennis Brust, Charlie Campbell, Tommy Thomson, Stan Grassel, Billy Baker, Rodger Benson, & Phil Ranck) from different divisions of Elanco provided short, often funny, commentary about their experiences or events in the past. Although the program ended up being much longer than planned, it was very entertaining and received a huge round of applause. A video entitled "The Elanco Family" was shown after the discussions and its theme complemented the program.
Again this year, Jack, Linda and Patti of the Jack Evans Trio were able to attend and they provided an outstanding performance at the banquet Saturday night. As we headed down “memory lane”, the Trio played many theme songs and interspersed the music with comments and stories about their travels with Elanco and the 750+ performances they did for Ag Chem and Animal Health. It was a fabulous evening as they entertained us until 1 a.m. Wow!
Many of the events of the weekend were video taped. A commemorative DVD video will be available late September, 2006. Advanced orders are welcomed and can be placed online or by mail. Estimated shipping date for the 2006 Reunion DVD is October 1, 2006.
BETTER HOMES & GARDENS
. . . and you thought Treflan was only for soybeans!

A familiar looking drum in a photo found in the June 2006 issue of Better Homes & Gardens caught Doug Vawter's eye.....while he was looking up a chicken recipe for dinner :-)
